Huawei and Canonical have extended their enterprise and telecom cloud partnership with the integration of CloudFabric Cloud Data Centre Network Solution and Ubuntu OpenStack.
The joint platform is targeted at improving the efficiency of deploying and maintaining multiple data centre networks and makes use of Agile Controller, Huawei’s SDN (software defined networking) controller which turns data centres into virtualised environments for easier provisioning, management and operation of cloud resources.
By integrating Agile Controller with Ubuntu OpenStack, several different controller nodes can be set up in minutes to provide flexible service deployment.
The combination also enables the rapid scaling and operation of complex application services, while minimising the need for manual intervention.
“Openness is a key factor of a data centre network solution,” said Huang He, General Manager of the Huawei SDN Controller Domain. “Huawei Agile Controller has passed interoperability certification with multiple providers of commercial OpenStack versions.
“The successful integration with Canonical reflects the deepened cooperation with cloud platform providers. This joint solution achieved not only automated network device configuration and service orchestration, but also the quick installation and deployment of the controller system itself.”
This news is the latest in a plethora of updates announced by Huawei at CeBIT 2017 in Hannover, where the company has a strong presence promoting itself as enabling ‘the road to digital transformation’.
The week started with Huawei detailing its vision of an all-cloud network architecture that will help businesses adapt to today’s digital world, followed by multiple updates around its OpenLab initiative, storage and smart buildings.
The Chinese tech giant also recently revealed two new smartphones at Mobile World Congress and announced it will be partnering with BT to research ‘5G slicing,’ a feature that allows mobile operators to section off certain parts of the network for specific applications.
