HPE Discover: Will HPE Synergy Make It Easier To Build Awesome IT Infrastructure?
HPE unveils new Synergy platform to provide flexibility and speed to deliver all kinds of services
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has unveiled HP Synergy, a platform intended to run both traditional and cloud native apps for companies wanting the perks of running a hybrid infrastructure.
The platform uses fluid resource pools, software defined intelligence and unified Application Programming Interface (API) to provide the foundation for businesses to constantly optimise the right mix of traditional and private cloud resources.
Respond to demands of business
Commenting on HPE Synergy, launched at HPE Discover in London today, Jed Scaramella, research director, IDC, said: “In order to respond to the demands of the business, CIOs and IT executives need to deliver services that are increasingly application centric. To remain relevant, IT needs to not only provide a reliable and cost effective infrastructure that can support their legacy investments, but one that gives them the flexibility and speed to deliver services like a cloud provider.”
Supporting these two different operating models requires rethinking the way IT infrastructure is built. HPE Synergy aims to address this challenge by leveraging a new architecture called Composable Infrastructure, which consists of three key design principles:
1. Fluid design pools
2. Software Defined Intelligence
3. A Unified API
HPE Synergy physically brings together compute, storage and networking fabric, and through a single interface powered by HPE OneView, composed physical and virtual resources into any configuration for any app. As an extensible platform, it enables a broad range of apps and is ideal for customers looking to deploy a scalable hybrid cloud environment and enable continuous DevOps.
Anontio Neri, executive VP and GM of the enterprise group at HPE, said: “Market data clearly shows that a hybrid combination of traditional IT and private clouds will dominate the market over the next five years.
“Organisations are looking to capitalise on the speed and agility of the cloud but want he reliability and security of running business critical applications in their own datacentres. With HPE Synergy, IT can deliver infrastructure as code and give businesses a cloud experience in their datacentre.”
