Citrix Has Free Kit For Migrating From VMware Horizon To Xen

Citrix on Aug. 31 at VMworld 2015 introduced a free kit and cloud service for developers who want to migrate for whatever reason from VMware Horizon View to Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop.

As a result, anyone with a XenDesktop license can migrate from VMware quickly and easily, without risk, while ensuring that their users can access all of their desktops on the same page.

Demand from enterprise

This migration kit was created to address demand from enterprise customers, including a large East Coast hospital and bank in Canada, Citrix said. These customers were dealing with user complaints and management issues but were worried about the risks and cost of migrating their View virtual desktops to XenDesktop.

This free migration service offers a risk-free way to switch to Citrix, which makes for an easier, more intuitive user experience, simplified management, and greater security, the company said.

Available through Citrix Lifecycle Management, this migration kit and service enables administrators to do an in-place migration by easily exporting application and desktop settings from Horizon into XenApp and XenDesktop solutions.

Ultimately, this kit simplifies the migration process, providing employees and executives with a superior user experience and maintaining their existing desktop, files and settings.

Administrators can even choose to manage all components in their own data center, or use Citrix Workspace Cloud to move the management to the cloud.

Go here to view a video that illustrates the migration process, which Citrix says can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.
