Citrix Sells CloudPlatform And CloudPortal To Accelerite

Sale of Citrix’s CloudStack products to make more room for firm’s core offerings

Citrix has sold off its two cloud management products CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager to Persistent Systems-owned Accelerite, a company that deals in cloud backup and recovery-as-a-service.

The move comes after Citrix spun off its GoToMeeting product into an independent publicly traded company last November.

Support

“In a move to better support our customers, Citrix is entering into an agreement with Accelerite, a provider of infrastructure software for cloud, mobility and endpoint solutions, to acquire the CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager product lines,” said Steve Wilson, VP of Citrix converged infrastructure.

Both products run off Apache CloudStack. Now, Citrix wants to orientate itself more towards its fundamental cloud products: NetScaler, XenServer and Citrix Workspace Cloud.

Citrix CEO Mark Templeton 2“We at Citrix are extremely confident that Accelerite will help nurture our customers, who are heavily invested in running their public, commercial clouds on these solutions and will allow Citrix to focus on our core priorities around the secure delivery of apps and data,” said Wilson.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016, but financial details of the sale were not disclosed.

Accelerite is the product selling arm of India’s Persistent Systems, and has recently focused heavily on cloud, with more than 3,000 customers.

According to Nara Rajagopalan, CEO of Accelerite: “Cloud infrastructure software is one of the three pillars of Accelerite. Today, our cloud software portfolio includes disaster recovery and enterprise self-service solutions. The addition of CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager product lines will help round out our portfolio and enables us to offer complete end-to-end life cycle management for public and private clouds.”
