Cisco Acquires Security Start-up Rohati Systems

Cisco Systems confirmed that it has acquired Rohati Systems, a security startup founded by former Cisco employees.

Rohati came out of stealth mode in 2008 with a focus on providing TNS (transaction networking systems) to enable secure collaboration and ease regulatory compliance.

“Cisco can confirm that it has acquired privately held Rohati Systems, a developer of access management solutions for virtualized data centres and cloud-based networks,” a Cisco spokesperson said on 6 Jan. “The employees of Rohati Systems will be joining Cisco’s Nexus product team.”

Rohati has pitched its technology as a way to close the gaps created by firewalls that are unable to provide the granularity Rohati’s TNS offers.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is the second recent security acquisition for Cisco, which officially acquired ScanSafe in December 2009.
